Yeah. Just leave the vr loom connected to the engine then you don't have to reach to plug it in. Some of those sensors are hard. Then swap the ecu and blammo. No cutting so soldering.

What about the gearbox, don't vr have a hydraulic clutch.
You will have to take out the cable clutch and put a hydraulic one in, should be pretty easy most mk3s used the same clutch pedal even tho they were cable.
