If you keep your eyes open sometimes a good deal shows up for some used ones for not a whole lot more than new replicas. I nearly bought some reps but discovered they seem to come in unfriendly sizes and just don't look right usually. If your prepared to put in the effort to restore a set of used wheels that's the way to go in my opinion. You'll be happier in the long run. Alternatively save until you can get what you want because you'll probably get over the reps and then that's money wasted and they won't hold the value of real wheels. Just my 2 cents. I'm 18 by the way so totally understand where your coming from.
I don't know whether i have the time to restore wheels, or the knowledge for that matter.
as Anthony said, don't rush into it, i was the same, in fact we were all probably the same back when..... buy up all the cheap stuff but you soon realise that the most expensive way is the cheapest way...... keep it quality, you won't regret it....
I did mine pretty quickly. they aren't great took about 2 weeks of whenever I felt like doing it / had time.
Depending on what your after like KI11Z said there's some nice OEM mk4 wheels and stuff. If your after low offsets and or width though then you'll have to go aftermarket. Or maybe just some spacers on OEM would look nice.
I've found you can't be too impulsive on wheels because your going to want to make sure they fit the way you want. Just all some food for thought.
search for BBS RS in whatever offset/width/size you're looking for. If you're patient, something will pop up. I've heard of people getting sets for $600 shipped from Japan. I was looking into this for a little while but ended up buying some other wheels instead. Refurbing isn't hard with a little bit of time and effort. Just talk to some guys on here about what needs to be done.
