Whats the best way to flush it out? just undo one of the bottom radiator hoses?

This stuff looks nasty hey, almost looks like I have oil for coolant.

OK, gunna give it a flush out... spoke to Joe at golfwagen and he reckons it could be something to do with the auto engines, something about the mixing of shyte... I got no idea. He also reckons it may be a head gasket

I'll flush her and see how I go from there.

Update.. there is no smoke coming from the exhaust and there isn't any coolant in the oil, it may be the oil cooler leaking... Or so the internet thinks.

      DONT PANIC

The previous engine was mixing oil and water and there was loads of ****e in the radiator. Give it a flush when it is warm.

The thermostat housing is fine, although the oil maybe confusing the temp sensor.

As you say the car does not get hot and it goes good huh??

      Glad it got there safe.

Cool, I was hoping all it needs is a flush.

It has its little character things like the left indicator not turning off... but its a pretty nice car, and yes... she hammers

I need to check out the idle though, its a little low, maybe some new plugs and leads... or perhaps a throttle clean.

        Thanks Matt

Oh, and I've put a little G12 in, it says G11... is there G11 in there? I hear mixing the two is baaad.

how many rpm is it idling at? VR6s do have a pretty low idle.
675 i think is where it should settle to at idle. And its not really adjustable to the best of my knowledge. Its handled by the ECU

Mine sits at 600-odd. Its cool. Low rpm = closest we'll ever get to rotational idle

It has G12 in it bro. And some slurry it would appear!

That engine has low ks and is fresh. I reckon she hammers too.

All indicatiors worked before it left here mate. Did you get the bottom half of the steering clamshell? The clockspring could be catching on the indicator?

i think the GIAC cam chips raise the idle a bit to smooth it out

Nah mate, aint got that bit yet.

I was going to flush it out yesterday arvo, but the weather here this week is crap and I don't have an undercover garage.

What is the best stuff to use to clean the oil out? Someone on the tex says theres detergents you can use, or is there special radiator cleaner?

Ah, there she sits under wet WA skies...

                          Runamuk,

Sad but happy to see the pick of me Ol' VR.... She still looks very tidy.....

Listen mate, i wouldnt do the flush yourself. Go to a radiator specialist and get them to do it. They know what they are doing and will use industrial strength flushing agent..... the stuff you get off the shelf isnt up to the job, from my experience you will be wasting your time. Just make sure that the stuff they use is not too Alkaline or acidic (you could damage the Aluminum head)...

If Matt put all the bits from the other engine on there then everything is new...

                          -New radiator
                          -new thermostat
                          -new thermostat housing
                          -new sensors(all three)
-new fan module switch(under water bottle)
                          -new oil cooler

The indicator stalk doesnt flick back up when you go left......was like that when i bought it....

                          cheers

p.s I should take my signature pic of your car off dont you think..LOL!!

Hey mate, just a question... She's been in a front end prang hasn't she? It's got a GL front grille, and the plastic over the radiator is new, and the bonnet spaces aren't even.

I called a couple of places about getting the radiator done, seems a bit pricey for bugger all work, it's all labour. I'll speak to Joe and see if he can source some decent cleaner. I've changed radiators on cars before so I should be sweet doing a flush.

I dont think she has been in a front end prang, unless it was a very light one? the legs are straight and front panel very straight. It is a Cl grill and have no idea why that is on there? but again was on there when i got it. No overheating probs so far?
