  • today i shed a tear :(

    definately a sad day today!
I got to work removing my schrick manifold. It took me over 12 months to find a a decent second hand one from someone who was willing to ship internationally. and it was all over within 30 minutes

One of the best mods i did to my VR6! But yeah. anyways. Onwards and upwards! Time for something new.

work has begun on polishing my old intake manifold! man its hard work. But it should be worth it in the end. I started off a little bit too conservative with my sanding. The stock manifold really has a very course pitted surface so to get through most of that i had to resort to a short burst with 80 grit paper otherwise itd take foreverrr! Then on to the 180 grit and 240. Just kinda feeling my way through it but will make my way up to 2000 grit paper and then some sort of aluminium polish and buffer.

heres a pic of my progress

Nice work there Tim the manifold looks sweet as can't wait to see the final product. I'm still uncertain whether I want to re powdercoat your schrick or polish it

i cant imagine it would be cheap to have it done professionally! what you see there is a few hours of work with probly a few more to go! the schrick has a lot more nooks and crannies to get into as well!

having said that, im not a huge fan of powdercoating either! Maybe look into some of those heatcoat type finishes?

i think im gonna cheat and paint it black between the runners. But i think that looks better than all polished anyways.

Get a stencil and airbrush a pattern on it or something, I've never seen anyone put art on their intake manifold you could be the first! I suggest a nice bio-hazard or DANGER logo.

yeh i was just thinking that... black with the polished top would look freakin sweet... i have always been a bit partial to black though - hence the look of my car
