Where can I get Replacement VR6 golf engines?

Hello people, so i've bought myself a red colour concept. Im already paying 2k for a suspension overhaul and am wondering where I can get a replacement engine from? It really is not giving as much power as I want it to be. Price isn't really an issue. Thanks Tom

Camden GTI would be the first place to look in Sydney, also post up here in the wanted section. Does the car actually need a new engine, or are you just checking availability? They go from around $800 for high kms to $2000+ in better condition or up towards $10k for one with desirable mods. If over 200,000kms check that the timing chain has been done for a start OR do it.

Any second hand engine is going to be an unknown. You would be better off investing the dollars in rebuilding your current one if you are hoping for the best outcome.

If you really want more poke use a Bora V6 engine and run stand alone ecu . Will give you more power than all but the extreme N/A 12v builds . Forced induction is a different story , but expect to spend 10k +

That would be mad but under p plate legislation, the engine can only be replaced with the same engine the car came with.

Just swapping in another second hand motor would be a big gamble, chances are it wouldn't pull any harder than your current one. If you have another way around for a fair while you have have the engine completele rebuilt, or if you have the money could buy a second hand one and have it rebuilt, and then have it swapped over for your current engine and have the car off the road for much less time. You could then try and sell your old engine too I suppose haha. Be prepared to budget quite a few thousand to have one completely rebuilt, especially if you're paying someone else to do it. I put a list togethor of all the parts I needed to rebuild my engine (and a fresh clutch etc) and it was a few thousand, before shipping, with myself doing all the labour. That was a lot of performance parts though, if you just want to build a fresh OEM engine it could be a fair bit cheaper.

You could also have a professional take a look at the engine you already have in it and see if they can find out why it's not making the power it could be and just have that fixed if it's not something incredibly major. Even a good tune up might make it better, replace everything like filter, plugs, leads ect, check for vaccum leaks, clean out the throttle body and such, have compression checked and stuff. Might not really need a whole new engine at all.

I thought the same capacity engine could be installed as long as it was same number of cylinders/rotors ? Why dont you find out and get it in writing . You could get an excemption by saying your engine is going and you need to replace it but can only find later engines ?

Yep, I might buy one from the states and pay someone to switch the engine around. I dont have the tools or space at home.
