Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Front coilover spring seat lock not locking.

I just went to do some fine tuning on my Vento's ride height and after adjusting the front left coilover I found that the spring seat lock just keeps turning and not locking. Plastic thread also started spinning out of the hole as I turned it. Now spring seat is just sitting loose which is quite dangerous, especially as it's the front one which swivles with the steering. I'm pretty sure I never over-tightened the lock.
Anyone got any ideas for a temporary fix?
They are under warranty but i have a feeling it's going to be a long process to get it replaced, not to mention the amount of details they want on the warranty form!

Yeah I don't know why the spring seats are made from plastic, there is a metal inner bit though. They're Weitecs, I would've expected better quality.
Anyway, worst case scenario is the front left will drop another cm since that's all the thread left on the coilover lol.
Ah, zipties, is there anything they don't fix? hahaha
