Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My MK3 3door CL!

This is my Mk3 CL 3 door golf. I picked it up 2 months ago with no rwc or rego and looking very unloved! I am just cleaning it up for now and will probably use this as my daily get-a-round! It just passed RWC only needing a couple of small things and is booked in for rego tomorrow. While waiting to book it in for rwc we started to clean it up a little bit.

Here is the day that we picked it up!

The first thing we did was give it a bath and a polish!

And here is the bonnet half polished!

Next was the interior, we pulled out all of the seats and console to let us get to everything
    Front before

    Front after

    Back before

    Back after

Now that the car was clean, we started to re-do all of the black moulds outside of the car, they were all old and faded.

    Masking the back

    And painting the back

    Back all done

Next we blacked out the front grill and badge and resprayed the front bumper and side moulds black. I am missing the front lip if anyone has a good condition one for sale please let me know!

The stock wheels look like rubbish so i stole some BMW bottlecaps off of my B/F`s car and started to paint them up for the golf!

The last owner of the e30 thought $2 matte black was cool so first we had to strip that **** off back to bare alloy

    Next some primer

    Then some colour!

And thats about it for now! I have some parts coming from the UK and a set of Coilovers to go on after rego. Once thats done, i will finish of the stereo and see what happens from there.

Have to agree with this coming from us CL owners ahha. Good fun reliable cars and the engine should last longer than the others . Any engine bay pics?

Also if your looking for a lip, someone on the forum at a oem lip for sale for $20 or something. Browse back in the parts for sale thread and you'll find it. If not hop on ebay and purchase yourself a euro vr6 lip which is about $50-100 shipped ! Congrats on your purchase.
