I might have to give the sanding thing a go. I've got a hot glue gun. how strong are they really? I'll update my thread this weekend...Originally posted by rayray086 View PostCheers
Alex, like I said, it's only a teaser for now
Lachlan, I sanded the ENTIRE surface of the pieces and used the headliner adhesive to keep the fabric in place. I then cut little pieces (tabs) of fabric and used hot glue to stick it onto the backside. The curled sections of the edge that goes over the seals I had just cut the fabric so it still sits fine, with more hot glue on the edges. Fingers crossed that the fabric won't lose adhesion to the trim...

Strong enough! They definitely hold and the good thing is, they bond in less than a minute. Only downside is that the hot glue dries bulky if not spread properly and so causes a few bumps here and there. Hopefully it won't make fitment too hard.
Another possible downside is it might not hold as well during warmer/hot conditions? They don't have a temperature limit written anywhere so I'll have to wait til Summer to see if they'll hold up...

Ray, mate, your car is doing well! I like your attention to detail and style.
Could you give me a pointer and tell me what suspension + wheel combo (size offsets etc) you are using in these two pics please?

and

Much appreciated ray.No more running wild...

Fried, in the first pic I used Koni Special shocks + lowering springs (-40mm). Wheels were Enkei stockies - 14x6 ET38 on 185/60R14.
Second pic, was also with Koni Specials but I used coilover sleeves and had them as low as I can. I don't know how much from stock the lowering was, but it's definitely a lot more than 40mm. Wheels were widened Mk4 steelies - 15x8 ET25 front, ET15 rear, both on 195/50R15.
Edit:
They were Reds man! But yeah, I'd rate them to be more comfortable and less harsh than your typical coilover setup, but the Koni shocks + standard lowering springs were A LOT more comfortable.Originally posted by peedman View PostIts koni yellows with the ground control coilover sleeves making them height adjustable. Very comfortable ride and definately not harsh at all!

I feel I'm doing something more productive doing this than playing a Wii!
I've finished the headliner but it looks like **** because I chose to put some padding underneath to give that OEM feel to it. It backfired cos (1) I peeled the paper backing off thinking it would be easier than sanding the original sticky foam and (2) the padding I bought was way too thick and not dense enough.

try some 7mm foam, i know someone else who did this and it worked out quite well, either that or just get fabric with some kind of spongy liner underneath...Originally posted by rayray086 View PostI feel I'm doing something more productive doing this than playing a Wii!
