  • What to do when I hit 300 000km

    I'm almost there!
    5000km away and counting.
From a dyno it did a couple of years ago it shows my car is still at stock power (yay, I haven't lost any!) but recently my mileage has dropped off, i think it might be the feul pump. All in all, i'm happy.

As this is a milestone for the car, I was thinking if there would be major things to do, or maybe it's a case of 'If it's not broken, don't fix it.'

I've got a couple of things on my list, but i was hoping someone may call out a biggie worth looking into.
    *Oil change
    *New Front Rotors
    *New Brake Pads
    *Bleed the brakes
*Find Air leak in central locking and fix it
    *Asess the feul pump
*Fit Coilovers (If I get them by then)
    *A very good clean

    Anything else?

it's barely run in yet. Dont even bother haha

as for central locking, check all the doors where the vac lines plugs into the body. I know my passenger side doesnt stay in and pops out from time to time.

do a fuel filter and air filter. that may help if the economy has dropped off.

I'd also pull off the intake manifold and boost piping and clean that all out too, as well as a really good oil flush and good fresh oil.

May its time to chip it and upgrade that exhaust though, I mean, it is just about run in now!

people say that as a say that you will need a new engine.
as far as the speedo goes it will be still tickling over 300000

It's so great to see so many driven engines in mk3s.

Cheers Floff, i'll start with the pass side and hope i don't waste time pulling my doors apart.

Yeah i'll do the air and oil filter too.
Might Flush out the coolant for some clean stuff too..
The pipes would defanatly need a clean.
                    Thanks Jarred.

:S Wow. You'd think a digital Odometer would continue as normal?
VW must not have thought much of their craftsmanship, or maybe the driver's ability to keep it going that long, haha.

                          Moment of truth!

What a milestone, my car is officially, relatively old
I may have gotten a little excited, beware your volume.

                            Congrats mate, very intreresting.
Wonder if the MK4s do that as well or even other makes. Always thought it would make sense to go to 999999.
You now have a brand new car.....
