  • Tune-Up Kits for ADY motor?

Anyone know of any companies that sell tune-up kits for the ADY motor? I tried German Auto Parts, but no luck, only the ABA motor.

They never got the ADY engine in the US, which is why you wont find anything in the american sites. Id be interested also though. I changed the plugs and oil/filter etc on mine and ran some subaru upper engine cleaner through it and mine runs pretty nicely now. What normally comes in a tune up kit?

Edit: mines an ADZ, so ignore that, i always get them mixed up. They still might not have gotten it over there though?

The hardest part to get would probably be the cap.
Any pointers on the best plugs and leads for a mk3 2.0?

...no...effing...way. I just found all the parts on rockauto.com. It's an American site but had the ADY motor listed. I've bought from them previously when I had a Chrysler New Yorker. I'd highly recommend!

The cap could be the same, I know the engines use a lot of the same parts, I have no idea if they do, but its something to look into. Maybe see if theres a part number on yours and if so, see if it matches

If you have the money Repco will probably have the dizzy cap. I've never tried to get dizzy caps from tooleys but I'm pretty certain they'll carry them.

Dont be afraid to try local sources, especially VW parts specialists..... We need to keep them in business!

Well I'd pay anything for a part that will make my car run 100 times better. Know of any good Sydney based VW parts specialists? Also looking for an ignition coil...

Camden GTI is a very reliable place to get parts, really nice guys down there too, they know their stuff.

I purchased a distributor cap, rotor button, coil (same coil as for ADY) and plug leads for my ABF (2.0 16V) from GSF Carparts on EBay. Really cheap and good quality BERU and Bosch stuff available. They also carry what you need for your ADY.

The only tip is when you add to your cart it will automatically add on the postage for each part. That might add up to say 4 times 20quid. Before you pay send them an email asking for a quote for postage. I purchased the above coil, rotor button. spark plug leads, distributor cap and got a clutch cable and engine mount for my mate's Scirocco and as i recall it came to around $270.00 delivered to my door. They only charged me one postage charge.

Most parts you can buy from Bursons or try Camden GTI and Seb.

I have bought much from German Auto Parts, for two engines that weren't sold in the U.S. The trick is to get onto vagcat.com (you will need to register) and compare between engines. Haven't failed yet. As said previously in this thread, many parts are common (the germans got to this idea well before Kaizen at Toyota), you can also check out the catalogues for parts suppliers (Bosch, Ryco, Mann etc.). Good hunting!

Sounds like a lot of thinking hahaha. Does GAP combine shipping? There's a bunch of things I need and they seem to have most of it.

GAP certainly do combine shipping. They dont give you a shipping quote online though, and will just charge you exactly what they pay to have them shipped. Normally works out cheaper than most companies who have the online shipping calculators. Their service is great too, if you have an questions theyre always happy to help, and always get things sent out very quickly. I love GAP
