Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

gday guys. need to change my thermo fan motor on my 97 mk3. i have a spare one ready to go on. do i have to take front bumper/grill/ everything else off just to fit the fan motor??? or is there another way?? ta

Taking the front end of the mk3 off is really easy, literally 4 bolts I think it is and the whole thing comes off. Not sure if its neede to do the fan motor, would probably make it easier though

Yeah there are 2 10mm bolts on the top of the front guards, then pop the dummy lights out of the front bar and there are 2 13mm bolts behind them on each side.

Undo these and you can move the whole front panel forwards. Takes 2 minutes to do it!
