Can't start my new golf urgent help

Hey all, happy to be back, used to have a diesel MK1 :p

Anyway got a 2003 1.8 manual golf just got it.
Drove well but now it won't start.
Turn the key, I get a beep from the dash then the key won't turn again. Battery's not flat feels like an immobilized car, do they have a factory immobilizer or anyone know something I can do?

2003 is a mk4 I think, so you're in the wrong section sorry.

Sounds like something imobiliser related indeed, afraid I cant help anymore sorry.

Sorry little bit confused about fault description, if you get (nothing) when you turn the key id be suspect on the ign switch mate. Could also be like you say immobilsed but would be non gen, Gen immobs let it start and cut out. Red/Black wire at the IGN switch should go 12v on crank if not the the switch could be duff mate.
