  • VR6 Exhaust!

    Who knows anything about distributors of VR6 exhausts in Australia then? I want to know:

    * Manufacturers
    * Distributors(particularly in SA)
    * Expected price for a cat-back system

    Alternatively, what sort of price would you expect to pay for a custom system? And can anyone recommend a particular manufacturer in the Adelaide area?

    Cheers guys

    Custom cat back would be $300-450.

    Most people cut out the suitcase in the exhaust and weld in a piece of pipe. Gives a very nice noise, and a little gain I believe? This would be the best option, most if not all aftermarket kits create a tonne of drone.

      The best aftermarket exhaust I ever had on a VR6 was a twin-exit Jetex, that gave a gorgeous note with no drone - do they trade in Aus? Custom might be the way to go then for that kind of price. Might also be tempted to remove the cat, as long as that section was jointed so I could put the cat back in for the feds if required!

        If you want to go custom, you might talk to AAA exhaust ( Deacon Ave, Richmond) I've had some good work done their in the past. They to both stainless and mild steel.

            Exhaust technologies on Goodwood. PaulthezoneR32 has a fantastic one on his mk5 GTI that they made.

              Personally when I get to the next stages of my vr6 swap Ill probably be going with this one TT Exhaust cat back '95-early'99 Golf MkIII VR6 2.5 w/Stainless Magnaflow Muffler [253 440M] - $390.00 : Techtonics Tuning, VW and Audi Performance Tuning and Repair Parts although it does have to come from the states. Might see what prices local people would want though, but when you want it all mandrel bent etc it starts getting pricey.

                That's not a bad price at all... sure I could live with that. But the shipping might be a little on the steep side I'm guessing.

                  I don't know about local options, but I got my Magnaflow catback system shipped from Canada and it sounds wicked. It is pretty loud but as long as you don't mind that, it's awesome. It was just over $600 shipped.

                      It's got a bit of drone which can be annoying when you're going up and down gears in traffic, but cruising at 100 it's fine. I've also got a 200 cell cat for it. Noticeable power increase especially in higher revs, awesome!

                        Mine drones like all crazy. It might have something to do with having extractors though. Wish I could get rid of them, but just got quoted $500 in labour alone to pull em off and put stock headers back on :X
