  • Time to say goodbye to Ruby Thunder... WA VR6

I'm not too sure where to post this, but I thought here would be a good place to start.

Basically I have a MK III VR6 which I would like to sell, but it's not in running order, so I didn't think the normal for sale forum was the place. The car was originally Thierry's, I had it shipped over from Sydney a few years back.

Due to financial constraints, I am unable to get the engine work done needed to get the car on the road, it looks like it's going to need a head gasket.

I'm not going to lie, the car isn't in the greatest condition, due to it sitting up a Golfwagen in Wangara (Perth) for some time, as well as it being in an accident which was mostly repaired except for painting one panel and putting the new rims on.

I have a spare set of the stock VR6 rims to go with it (the ones on the car are a bit damaged due to an accident).

The car also has a nice Alpine iPod deck that display album art, and Alpine Type R splits in the front doors with an Alpine Type R woofer and an amp to power it all.

Chances are people wont be interested in any of the stereo gear, so I might just rip that out and put it in my GF's MK IV.

I had one offer for it, but would just like to try and make a little more back.

Any offers around $1200 for the car inc the spare rims (and I'll strip the audio gear) would sound about right.

Drop me an email to if you are interested. I'm not keen to part the car out, so buy the whole thing as a parts car! Poor Ruby

Let me know if I should post this somewhere else.

    Back in the day...

The for sale section probably would be right.

Any pictures of the body damage? If it actually is just a head gasket this could be a nice little car to fix up

There's a bunch of other things too, such as aircon which needs doing. The heater core was done not that long ago (sob).

I should probably add that it is still registered in WA, I just need to renew the rego before march.

The body damage has been repaired except for paint, and it needs some VR6 flares for that one wheel arch (passenger front)

I remember seeing this on Carsales and then here on Watercooled, it was fairly fkin mint and had a Schrick intake amongst some other goodies. Hoping somebody brings this suckah back to life

Perhaps you're thinking of another car, I WISH it had a Schrick intake. This car is pretty much stock.
