  • AUTO troubles

i've got a problem with the auto box in my 2.0L golf.

SOMETIMES not all the time, when it shifts into 4th, top gear, it will free rev for a second and then drop into top gear.

its like it shifts into neutral from 3rd and then into 4th.

does this happen to anyone else?

any ideas in what it is?

It will cost that much to get repaired it will scare you (4-6k!!!) you're better off getting a manual conversion done, PM golf loon for a very reasonable price and excellent service (shameless free plug for a good guy )

      F@#*% hell!!

i dont have that sort of money, to fix the auto or for a manual conversion!

thought i'd upgraded my car from my older pulsar to something newer and more reliable and it hits me with another massive bill.

The bottle is on the top-left of the engine bay. As for the draining, check this out: http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/dreed...ech/atf01m.htm

Edit: Sorry, that location is for a manual! After reading Maris' post, I don't know if the autos have it or not.

In my CL there is no trans dip stick. I did get some "hesitation" from our CL which frightened me into thinking it was the transmission. I think, that because it was "new", it did disappear.

I think it may have been because the previous owner may not have used PULP. It did disappear in time.
