Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Making two U shaped tools did the trick. Then I found the new aerial was a standard plug on the end not the Euro plug. A quick trip to Supercheap but they could only order it for $21. I walked to Autobarn nearby and they had the correct adaptor for $10 with the same part number and manufacturer that Supercheap was going to get.

My cable tie in my reg assembly broke last night after work. So at 12:30AM in the heat I was fixing this by just bolting it shut after taking the reg out, not something I wanted to do after a 9 hour shift in the heat.
Looks like the cable tie could keep up with the strain for a few months after becoming weak and breaking. I wonder if it's possible for a more permanent fix, or is it just bad luck?Past - '95 VW Golf MK3 VR6

Ebay is your friend although in this case international postage is not:

If you are in Sydney, you could try Camden GTI who seem to have a fair few Golf 3 parts in stock or some of the wreckers around the traps such as Pick n Payless.1997 Golf CL, 2011 Caddy Life TDI, 2007 Golf TDI, 1996 Vento GL (red), 2008 Skoda Octavia TDI
