  • Replacing door on Cabrio

    Hi all
I need to replace a door on a Mk3 Cabrio. I can see that there are torx on the hinges and know I don't yet have the right size. There is limited space so I'm hoping someone can come up with an easy solution.
Will a bent 'allen type' key with a torx end be sufficient or will I need to get a socket?
I don't think there is room to get the ratchet in as well.
Also, what size. I'm thinking around T50 but could be wrong.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    cheers...doc

Worked it out. It's a T45 and a bent 'allen key' style will do.

Yep T45. The right bit makes it so much easier. I spent ages trying to get a door off with alan keys and such and almost rounded the hole on one of the screws. Went and got a Kinchrome Torx bit set for like $20 and its been very useful. If you got it off without though, then don't worry about it. Haha

I haven't taken it off yet. I've just got a set of the kingchrome ones, then I realised the hinge comes apart if you undo the small bolt out the side. I'm such a dud. I've never had a car that has hinges like this. Hope I can loosen these bolts and just lift off the door. That would be much easier. As well, I haven't forgotten about the wires through the A pillar or the check strap. I'll just disconnect them first.
