    Welcome mate.
My first suggestion would be to spend some time on VWvortex.com looking through the Mk3 section for some ideas and inspiration

Are they fogs sticking out of the bottom?
Keep them. you can do something original.

Hi there and welcome to the forum,
suspension would be a good start (bilstein or koni), then tyres/wheels. You have a cross flow engine that has lots of potential and access
to the many tuning shops where you are. If you are going the transplant route then upgrade the brakes as well.

Thanks for the reply Fred27. If you don't mind can I pick your brain for a little and ask what is a coss flow engine? Like I said I am new to all of this and I am trying to learn

here is my 2E engine, it's a 2 liter like yours. The 2E has inlet and exhaust ports that are at the rear on the same side on the cylinder
head. Your inlet manifold is up front and the exhaust manifold is at the back.
