    Hey guys,

Has anyone on here dealt with CCW wheels?? ive enquired about wheels on their site and they've failed to get back to me...was wondering if anyone has bought CCW wheels??

I wanted to ask them about offsets, widths, etc that will fit my vr...

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Are you asking them what will fit a VR, or have I read your post wrong and you have specs in mind but are asking for the specs that they offer? IMO establish a range of wheel specs you want first and then find the wheels to suit, contacting a wheel distributor about a specific model of mid-90s VW might be outside their expertise, plenty of experience and pics on here to find out what you're after. Personally I'm chasing 17" (X 7.5" - 8") ET 30-35 (centrebore of 57.1mm) others might want something more aggressive, others less.

There are also wheel calculators online where you can type in your current wheel and tyre specifications and the specs of a secondary set of wheels and it gives you results on how much further they will stick out, and the difference in rolling diameter etc.

Have a poke through the wheel and suspension section too for some tips.

Again if they just didnt get back to you on the specs they offer, ignore this post. Otherwise do your best to find the specs you want first (ofcourse adapters etc can widen the range).

they are custom made aren't they?
As VW Imposter said, you would need to work out what YOU want first.
The specs you want will depend on your cars height and what sort of fitment you want.

Yeah they're custom made, so I cant necessarily use the wheel n tyre calculators cause CCW don't give you offsets n stuff to work with. But I wanted the widest possible wheel I could fit, I even referred to a photo of a Mk3 in their gallery, so they must have some sort of info in their files somewhere. And I wanted the deepest possible dish, so really, the offset depended on what the deepest dish I could run and how wide the wheel I could run was. I think i saw on here somewhere, someone was running 9"??

With a good roll and the right offset (around 15 iirc) you can easily run 9's in the back its not so easy in the front though

use the calculators to go backwards, put your existing wheels in, then do a test (eg 9" wide et15) and see what offset you can make work on your car.

So CCW finally got back to me, and they said most mk3's run 8.5 front +25 n 8.5 rear +15, and said this would result in a 1.5" lip on the front and a 2.5" lip on the rear. Im thinking maybe even push it and see if i could run 9's on the rear...that would be pretty sweet

For reference stock vr6 wheels are 15x6.5 et 43. Put that into the offset calculators like Dylan suggested and figure out what you can fit.

Yeah I used that 1010 tyres calculator and it says that for the rear offset (+15) i need 3mm more inner clearance and extend 53mm more for the outer clearance, pretty much the same for the front (+25) except 7mm less for the inner and 43 more for the outer. does the outer mean from the fenders??

Yeah what that means is the wheel will be 3mm closer to the suspension them stock, and will poke out a further like 57 or whatever.(that's for the nine inch et 15) you don't have a lot of inner clearance to play with before you start rubbing on the suspension (my stock wheels only have a couple mm of clearance to the coilovers at the front, not sure about the back) you also have to make sure they'll clear the brakes

Oh okay, I thought it meant i had to extend 53mm to reach the guards...ahhh i think its makin sense now. But yeah this was all testing on 8.5", didnt try the 9's

                            Yep rear.
Not sure about camber, if he did there wasnt much from memory.
Trying to find his build thread but i think it got deleted
