  • Rear Brake Problems

    hey guys/girls

got abit of a problem with my rear brakes, the pads are rubbing up against the discs all the time, which makes a howling noise, its also scarred the discs pretty bad,

i have tried pushing the piston back with no luck, it just goes back out and rubs again

    can anyone help me???

    Chris

Check to make sure that the handbrake is not pulling on and keeping the rear brakes lightly on.

Pull the guides out , clean them then re-grease them . the caliper should easily slide back and forth .

Just a couple of other thoughts. Wheel bearings perhaps. Also if the tyres have been on the back since new they can sometimes get noisy and create a noise that sounds like wheel bearings.

I have loosened off the handbrake inside but that didnt help, i can only pull the handbrake up 3-4 clicks, so might adjust it at the back??

I just had wheel rotation/ballance/alignment, also just replaced one of the bearings to check weather it was that and didnt help

Just one further comment. Brake pads always rub against the discs. How hard is it to turn the wheels when the car is jacked up. In other words are they actually rubbing and appying pressure or just in the normal position and the problem is coming from elsewhere?

I think you may have more of an issue if the pads weren't rubbing

                sorry cant actually help.
