I don't have pictures unfortunately and my memory is a bit hazy. Hopefully someone will fill in any gaps.
Remove the ignition plastic shroud. Remove airbag and the surrounding plugs that sit behind the steering wheel. In the footwell, swing the plastic cover covering the steering linkage. Undo the steering linkage U-joint bolt (13mm) near the pedals and remove. The steering column may spring up (not with much force) and be careful not to lose the spring that sits between the U-joint and the column itself. The steering column should now come out...
Come to think of it, airbag removal shouldn't be necessary....?
Try to look for "ignition switch replacement", sometime people remove the whole column to do this.

REMEMBER, (if you have airbags) the proceedure and clockspring setting, or you'll have a red airbaglight on until fixed....
there is a shearpin that might need snapping if you cant get off... mark the Colum positons (liquid paper/marker) to you can realign later with ease
Here's the DIY for the ignition switch that explains it. It is pretty easy, just be careful not to break the airbag electrical plug things, and have a friend help you when you need to put the steering column back in. Get them to hold the steering wheel and position it while you put the bolt into the u-joint and it will all be good.
