  • brake hissing sound

I have got a problem with my brakes on my VR6.

Whenever I press the brake pedal down about half way, there's a hissing sound from somewhere near the brake pedal, you can only heard it from inside the car. Sounds like there's a snake in the car. Also, when I have my foot on the brake, the car idles rough, but runs fine when I don't press the brake. Cool.

I assume this is the brake booster? If so, do I just replace this part? Is it a hard job?

    do the brakes work fine??

the snake does not like being sqaushed by the pedals so it hisses
and seems to be a male that's why eng idles rough

no worries if brake works BIG worry if snake works!

check peter jones thread on Mk1 upgrades to Cordoba brakes on here
click his profile and prob Mk1 threads
if brakes work ok its not much of an issue
check engine compartment while someone presses brakes behing cyl 4 is a rubber equaliser pipe
see if it hisses also the fix it to solve any rough idle
could be booster gone but not common
