Hello All,
I havent been on here for a while, not since i sold my Mk1 in Australia.
I have since moved over to Austria to finish my degree at the Uni of Vienna and have found VW Heaven!!!
I currently own a 1993 Mk 3 TD (75ps) version which i bought for the tidy sum of €900. Ive had a few other Golfs in the past 4 months a 1995 TDI Mk 3 which i bought for a laughable 350€ and sold for 1400€ and a 1993 Mk 3 1.8 Petrol which i bought for 450€ and sold for €800!!
The only thing I can say is that cars and parts are abundent here!
Ill post up a few pics of my Golf shortly. So far ive only had a chance to put some VR6 lights and have got a professionally installed sound system from the previous owner. Im currently going through the process of fixing rust (underneath and on the doors) (so many Mk3s have rust, you wouldnt believe it) and then ill be doing a respray and doing mechanical repairs front wheel bearing, brake lines and the list goes on.
Otherwise, my love for VWs have been cemented here, so much so that when i do end up coming back to Oz I plan on buying a VR6 for me to tinker with and a D2 or D3 Audi A8 for the family.

This car suits my needs perfectly. Gets me 900ks to a tank on long trips (I drove from Vienna to my home town in Serbia (700ks @ 130-150kph) and then 200ks around (city/country) driving!!!! It is cheap to insure and noone will ever steal it! Its only a CL so no power windows or mirrors, but it does have an electric sunroof and an awesome sound system, plus the previous owner was kind enough to put a decent alarm in it! It has been my most expensive car to date (900€ purchase plus 250€ on fixing rust and painting!)
