  • K&N pod goodness :)

    Hey guys,
Got the K&N pod all fitted up using an aluminium extension pipe so it fits right up next to the cold air intake. Sounds freakin AWESOME!!! Didn't have any batts for the camera but i got to pull it apart later in the week to do some polishing on the custom bracket etc so will take some pics then .

Anyone using this pod (K&N R3003) have you noticed a slight whistle at low revs? Not totally 100% certain its the pod but only started after i installed it so i guess it must be that?

    cheers
    Simon

Hey.. enjoying that huh. I use same pod as well.
The whistle I think is made by the mesh infront of the MAF senser, apparently it is to direct linear air flow for more accurate reading. Some people take it out but the whistle doesn't bother me.
    Enjoy.

Thanks for that Louis I mite try taking the mesh out when i clean up the install later in the week, will let you know if it makes a difference. Think I will be using more petrol now as i keep putting my foot down to hear the growl

haha.. petrolwise it "suppose" to gain better consumption. But the sound of the grawl overrides the cost of fuel I say.

i have no mesh in my MAF and it still whistles. IIRC its the air flowing over the edge of the throttle butterfly that causes the whistle.

This the filter i've been wanting! How much did you pay for the pod filter? I got quoted $220 for a K&N panel filter, is that right?

Thanks of the clarification. I always assumed that it was the mesh.

i used to have a whistle on part throttle until i upgraded to the schrick intake. I think the disappearance of the whistle was due to the removal idle control airflow damper which the schrick doesnt use anymore. Apparently theyre yet another common failure point on vr6s.
