now its back at the mechancis with a blown coil pack, est $900.This has almost made a grown man cry.

It is customary for a new VR6 owner to be financially annihilated with repairs of his new toy. Its an initiation right.

Now you have passed the test, it is time for some serious fun!!

Without sounding like a smartypants. Maybe you should start doing a bit yourself. Most of those jobs are pretty minor in the scheme of things. WHat was wrong with the rear springs? I have only ever come across broken front ones..

            rear springs!
            were they broken in half?!
            if not..
so you're mechanic had a spring calibration/measurement tool.. I very much doubt he did (mostly this tool is only used buy specialist suspension tuners.. I've only seen one and it was at Terry Hays shock treatment .. arguably the best motorcycle suspension tuner in the country)

This is precisely why people shouldn't pay top money for a VR6...

damn dude that just sucks.. I know how you feel man. I think most people would get caught out buying a used car with little knowledge about the car's past. just like everything, problems are unpredictable.
in regards to your coil pack. what were your symptoms? I kinda had problems with my coil pack a long time ago. especially when it was raining. I took it out and had a peak, seeing if there were any cracks in the plastic. put it back and I never had a problem again.

you can import a coil pack for about 400-500 with premium shipping, I reckon. shouldn't take any more than 1hr to install. $900 is pretty steep.

Sorry to hijack this thread. I ahve a saggy rear as well, I didn't realise it until Rayray point it out to me, does it need immediate attention? I am starting to get worried.

i've been driving like that for over a year and the only issue i can imagine is damaging the rear shocks.
