Yes 98 only for me, anything less may end in disaster.

Last week my mate took some 95 from our local caltex to his bike place and they said it had high water content in it. Never using petrol from there again.

Just saw this thread since I posted it, cheers everyone for the replies Yeah it's been on 98 since I bought it but the dude who I got it off said he mostly just used the normal stuff and every now and then put in premium... so yeah, hopefully that hasn't messed with it too much!

Just another hand up for 98 in a VR6. It's all I've run since buying the car. Tried with 95 a few times and found it to be nice enough, but 98 gave me an extra ~50km from a tank, more power and ran smoother. Have stuck with BP after a few experiments with Caltex fuel didnt really work for me.

Glad you said that Mattyt, i've been wondereing whether its worth stickin to BP, tried 95 caltex other day to remind me self, car seems flat in pick up and i'm sure it started running lumpy at part throttle, scared **** outta me....BP soon to be used for test 2.

Caltex Vortex 98 runs the best in my VR...... more power, more response and more ounce 2 tha bounce ! i have tried the Caltex Vortex 95 but the old girl was not a fan . Second choice would be BP Ultimate and last would be Shell Vpower . I used 2 run the Mobil 8000 (98ron) which was also up there with the Vortex 98 but ever since they sold out to 7eleven i have not tried it because im not sure if the quality is still the same .

keep in mind though that the tank of fuel you got today will be different to the next tank of fuel you buy even if bought from the same place .

I can only get bp ultimate in my town, the old camira had an injector issue which cleared up totally after a couple of tanks of 98.
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...

                              Brutal!

Our only choices for 98 in Perth are BP, Caltex or United. Havent tried United but from what some of my rice burner mates tell me its pretty crappy stuff.
