  • What's the silver thing everyone mistakes as oil filter

What is the silver (on '95 VR6 engine) thing that looks like it could house an oil filter. It's pointing forward on the bottom of the engine just above where the real oil filter actually goes. I haven't yet got workshop manual so i have no idea what it is.
Could someone please solve this mystery please???

    Oil Filter Mount.

Plastic Oil Filter Housing screws into the mounts and contains the paper oil filter element.

You need a 36mm Socket and access from underneath to change the filter. If you dont have the correct tool, you`ll strip it and it`ll never come off.

Yeah i know where the oil filter is i changed it just today. but there is a alloy thing on the front of the engine block, it's got about a 24mm hex on it it that looks similar to the oil filter housing, i think cOS is closer to the truth. Could it be oil cooler or where you drain the coolent???

              the coolant screw is plastic.

if you are referring to the oil cooler, sometimes an oil leak can happen there.
