    Hey mate,

to me it looks like the oil is coming out of the block breather connection.... but on your engine that big plastic part also looks like it has something else in it....

its very likely that breather connection has an o-ring seal onto the engine block. perhaps its old and is letting oil vapour past.

As gldgti said check the breather pipe, if it's cracked or broken anywhere it'll let oil out. Same thing happened to me and it made a mess.

The only problem is anywhere in aus wants a good $150 for the pipe. I just made one from 3/4 inch copper pipe. Best bet is to try overseas for the pipe.

Same here. $146 from local V Dub dealer, $47 from ebay usa, to my door! Just take the part number from your old one and google a replacement.

guys after i washed the engine .. it stayed clean for a while then after i drove from Canberra to Newcastle about 7 hours .. i started to notice the place of the leak .. the breather pipe is fine .. it seems to be coming out of the part that's attached to the oil filter .. what the heck ?

Between the oil filter and the oil filter housing/holder?
Or between the oil filter housing/holder and the block?

Could be where the oil cooler attaches on to the oil filter housing/holder? I know it's just a rubber gasket between the two, and when I changed mine out I found it was stiff as...

Sorry, but do MK3 CL's use an external oil cooler?

Ummm, a new oil filter or replace the gasket between the block and oil holder housing.

It'd take you all of 20 minutes to replace the oil filter (oil too naturally), if the leak stops, hooray, if not, well you know where it's coming from then.
