1997 Mk3 GL 2.0 5psd Manual- 225K kms - Gear box has died (reverse) and will need about $3k worth of work. But has new disks, tyres and goes very well

Am interested in the forum's thoughts....
1. Good repairer in Sydney's Northern Beaches?

2. Wreckers in Sydney Area - rather than simply trash it, it would be nicer for it to donate its organ to this community.

3. What gearbox part number is likely for this, and how do I find out...

4. Where could I get a used gearbox - who do you trust. - in Sydney Area

Get a second hand gearbox fitted at Camden GTI.

It will cost you a lot less than 3K.

A replacement gearbox will cost alot less than 3k.

$3k including parts labour - plus a few more fixes while there - quickly gets to untenable to repair.

Where would anyone donate a car for wrecking? Who are the wreckers that people here use?
