Well, painted my intake manifold earlier this evening, and I'm quite pleased with the result

Hmm.. after playing around with it a little more, I realised that the air between the sub and the body of the car, and the thinness and flexibility of the boot mat, there was absolutely zero bass.

So, yesterday I picked up 2 amps, 1 1300watt and 1 1000watt subwoofers. I'll install them shortly (temporarily) then I'll make a custom fitted sub box to fit inside the spare tyre hole, but with a metric f**kton of bass to follow. The box will house both subs, and amps; all hidden underneath my new boot mat, since I destroyed the other one with a kitchen knife to make the hole for the bassless sub.

Speaking of which, I now have 2 subwoofers to sell:

                A 900watt Clarion 12 inch, only 4 months old.
and an old fusion one, looks like 12 inch too. PM me if you're interested The clarion one sounds sweeeet when paired with a good mono amp.

Well, here I am. Haven't been on for a few days.. and this is why..

Waiting for insurance etc. to go through, and find myself a new VW! They haven't inspected it yet, but the police believe that it's going to be a thin line between the insurance company fixing it, or replacing it.

No one was hurt, and I walked away with a scratch. Airbags didn't deploy, so might want to get yours checked out.

And here's what happened. It was Saturday arvo on Gorge Rd, just outside of Cudlee Creek. Driving into the approx. 35 degree bend at approx. 70km/h, started to slow down, got to about 60km/h before my car lost control on the wet road, and fishtailed towards the 15m drop to the bottom of the creek. I managed to turn the other war and instead slammed into the rock face at about 55km/h. The car kept spinning and I ended up in the middle of the road. I walked out of the car with only a scratch on the head. Thank God, not only that I was okay, but that no one else was injured etc. My car was the only one in the incident. I now know that I was going too fast for the conditions, and I learned the hard way.

So that's it for now. I'll update this thread with more news etc.

far out mate sad day i bet... this almost exact thing happened in my vr but was going a lot faster and was freaking lucky to not be hurt! glad to hear your fairing ok, lesson learned mate. Its always risky slowing down at decent speeds in wet weather whilst cornering the back end always seems to come out on the vr's in that scenario.

damn that is nasty.... glad that you got out of that with a few bumps n scratches & maybe a bruised ego although it does saddened me to see another VR totalled . My VR gets twitchy in the rear under heavier braking, a heavy front end and crap suspension are not a good recipe for spirited driving . GL with everything .

Ah ****, that's no good mate, but glad you're OK. Happened to me once before too, but I was low enough to not cause any panel damage (got beached on some tall rocks instead). Hopefully the engine is OK?

Glad you are OK, mk3s are tough.
If they write it off, get posession of the wreck and buy a 2 door Mk3. There was a blue on on ebay in Adelaide for ages. Put all your good VR6 bits into it and carry on
