  • Cams for the vr6

    Hey all fellow dubbers,

Right the time has come to look at some extra power in the vr. Now it has exhaust and intake mods so I did notice a small difference when that happened.

Now I have been reading up on some ideas and the first engine mod is looking like a camshaft upgrade

I have been looking at this from Autotech:
We are sorry, but this page cannot be found. If you have any questions or can't find what you are looking for, please contact us .

Just wondering if anyone has had any past experience with aftermarket camshafts. They are a 262 cam from Autotech.

Does anyone have any other suggestions looking to spend something in the vasinity of $500 nothing more really

    Thanks for replys from now

                Tim, Gavin

I want to look at a cam and chip combo as first. The one that is advertised by Autotech is $299 which is probably something in the vasinity of $400-500 AUD plus shipping, its not that bad I think.

Tim as for your manifold I want its just its alot but I it is still on my "I want to buy it badly so freakin much" list

What kind of power is a cam like a 262 rated for?

Thanks for that Matt, strange I know but I don't understand

Well looking at the MJM ones they offer the 262 cam with the GIAC chip

Will this work this GIAC chip or not? They also have the 268 cams which I want but not at that price lol

                    Can anyone suggest please

Its cool mate im just stirring u up about the manifold.

The US chips wont work with our ECUs. Id speak to Seb about that but i think the local price on a GIAC chip is around $1000. Plus cams need to be installed as well. Which is a few hours work for a mechanic that knows what he is doing. So by the time u get the cams here a chip to suit them and the whole lot installed. It is quite an expensive upgrade. Nice cams are sposed to really make the VR rev out much nicer though

Thats OK TIm, but I really want your manifold (anyone touches it and there dead......get it!!!!!!!!) lol

I'm thinking about that 262 cam from Autotech but from the MJMAutohaus website as it is cheaper. Looking at probably $2000 worth I'd say for a chip, cam istall. I know a cam would work better with a chip but cam the cam work by itself to its affect or not really?

Why bother with a $2k chip when u can purchase an entirey new aftermarket ECU for not much more?

Hell, if you really want to go nuts, get a MoTeC M800!!
