  • K&n filter

Just wondering if any know the resonable price for panel K&N air filter for mk3.

    Supercheap $155
    Repco $130
    Auto joy $105

Perhaps someone here has one for sell ??

That's a decent price from Autojoy. I got mine for $98 from a friend who's a vendor. If you want I can talk to him about getting another.

      hey ray
That would be great if you can if not could you hook me up, I am in no hurry. Johnny howard owes me a cheque from his tax department.

Anyhow, noticiable difference? it claims to have 7% increase performance??

Like Ray said, power can hardly be felt. It does respond better though, and with the sound, I couldn't tell a difference as I had the airbox opened up before changing filters, but everyone says it gives it a deeper/throaty sound. Worth it when you get it for your next service. They usually last longer than the car if well maintained and regularly cleaned and oiled.

I will ask him for you Louis, he's on vacation at the moment so it may take a few weeks!

I got much more throttle response from my BMC. No real discernible power increase though.

              Thanks guys..

              Another question for yours all.
What if I take out the air box a shuff and just pod filter in? Want to to the concept of "hot air".. bad idea as I know...???? If so I would need an extention to bottom of car for cold air?

Bigger job obviously but better idea? is it worth 300 odd bucks to do ?

I hear iduction kits are sweet.

I got myself a BMC CDA induction kit for the VR6 of ebay. Paid $250 fot it. Its second hand, the pervious owner claimed he only had it for 2000 km. Just cleaned the filter then and Its looks brand new .
Havnt put it on the car yet.

The vr6 has got a pod on it at the moment and it does sound sweet. Sounds especially sweet when u turn the car off and it continues to suck a little of air. lol SAAWEEET!!!!

Shop around dude. you will find a bargain.

I think best would be a pod filter with a heat shield in terms of performance. Higher airflow than in a cut up airbox since it's entirely 'opened', and the heat shield prevents/reduces the heat-soak from engine (hot air basically). However, I've browsed around and have heard that the best 'sound' can be had from a modified airbox with a high flow filter

                              hey h100vw.

Is the green filter washable ? as I know k&n can be cleaned with water.
