  • What Wheels?

    Hi chaps
I have a really nice white MkIII Tdi with just 123000km on the clock. I have standard 14*6 steel wheels at the mo and have been thinking of upgrading to a set of alloys (4*100). My question is what is the best size and design considering I don't want any rubbing on the guards etc. I note the book allows for 15*6 so thats the starting point? I would probably like to track down a set of really good originals if possible.

Edit: Sorry guys just found the forum Wheels and Suspension. Will deal with this there!

Getting 4x100 wheels in Aus is a bit of a pain.

Agree, they would be cool, but she's just my daily hack so too many $$$. I have seen OE stuff that was optioned from new so maybe I can pick some up from a wrecker if they are in good nick. I not 15*6:45 is the OE spec. I probably would not go above 6.5 due to steering load and tyre cost. Thanks for the comments.

dont want to poach this thread, but does anyone know if some 18x7.5" rims (in 4x100 obviously) would fit on a golf GL without any modifications?

Unsure of offset at present, but what general range would this need to be in?

18's just look too big on a mk3 i think, but im sure you would fit them, there not that wide. offset will make the difference

Yeah i agree. Personally i'd like wide 16's or 17's, but it's so hard to get a good set of second hand ones down here, 18's come up more often than anything else, so that's what prompted my question

This is probably the only mk3 I have seen that pulls off 18's, probably enhanced by the fact its super clean and sitting super flush.
