Exhaust downpipe heat shield rattle

Has anybody taken off the heat shield from the down pipe on a 2.0? Mine has a rattle that's driving me crazy.
Are there any problems with heat after it's taken off? Somebody has welded it on in the past but the welds have broken. I'm just putting a hose clamp around it at the moment but would like to do a permanent job.

shouldnt make too much of a difference at all dude, if you do get worried its a bit too hot, wrap it up in some heat wrap

You've reinforced my own thoughts. I've had a look on the web and can't find an aftermarket one with the heat shield so it can't be too bad. I've used a hose clamp and pushed a bit of high temperature RTV silicone between the pipe and shield so I'll see how it goes. (about to drive around the block) But if it's no good, I'll take it off.

Only issue with removeing the heatshield would be the Steering knuckle Rubber Boot,
have seen them melted on cars with the shield removed.
