  • window fell down...

so i pressed the down button on the rear passenger window it got halfway down and then fell all the way and is now loose in the door s:

I was wondering if its possible to fix the window in the closed position and disconnect the motor, as its only going to need replacing again at some point and i never really use this window.

Take the door trim off and jam a chuck of wood in there.......

    OR .....

You may be able to do the cable tie fix on this one.
Basically, take off the door trim and remove the plastic weatherproof cover.

Then use the switch to wind the window down half way.

You will either see lots of tangled wire, or the mechanism will move but not the window.
If it is the latter, remove the 5 10 mm bolts and undoo the electrical connector. It slides, then pulls out.

Also detach the window from the plastic slider another 2 10 mm bolts.
Take the regulator and motor out of the door.

Each of the two guides have a cable with a metal knob moving up and down them.
Get the 2 plastic sliders which have an L shaped cross section and can be clipped onto the rails.
You will see the locating position on the back of the plastic that the knob fits into.
Clip the plastic slider over the metal wire and knob.
When it is located, sneak a skinny cable tie behind the wire and throught the plastic slider to hold it in place instead of the broken clips.
    Do both sides.

I usually plug em in before install and check they move.
If its all good, put back in and locate window in plastic clip. I usually do the bolts up looely and jiggle the window as it goes up until it finds a happy spot, then tighten. Also grease the rubbers for non stick and smoother operation.

Then reassemble door and enjoy the fresh air.

If this doesn`t work, call Camden GTI 02 46273072 for a replacement unit.

    Good Luck
