  • Faulty ignition module?

Just to add to the problems we MK3'ers have had over the past few days... just had my car serviced @ a VW specialist... car felt good all day.

    But then!...

Car wouldn't start... the engine was cranking up strong (so not the battery) but wouldnt kick over and actually start up... no spark coming from the plugs. Tested with screw driver
Traced the leads up to the module and theres black gooey stuff coming out of the module. This should be the problem right?

Is this a common problem? Expensive? Help!

Lucky the Beeza GTi hasnt sold and i still have a car eh...

If you are talking about the ignition coil, it will be the same on the Ibiza. Swap it over and see if the car starts. They are quite a common failure.

Arh yes!.. defintely worth a try!

Do you have to disconnect the battery for this type of work?
