  • Water Water everywhere, please help!

    Hi Guys

    Hope somebody has an idea

I was going to change my thermostat housing on the VR this coming weekend as it has a really small leak & I thought to prevent any bigger probs Id get it done

When the Missus came home tonight she said the light on the dash is blinking. I say its ok as Im going to fix that on the weekend Ill just top up the resevoir & well be all good

Go out to the garage & on the front near the power steer pump is a flood with water still dripping out
Cant see any on the block so Im assuming that its dripping onto the pump from somewhere
Would this be the waterpipe or the waterpump?

Please help as I need this car as a daily as most of you do &* need it fixed over the weekend

    Not happy

    Cheers
    Mark

Mark, the waterpump is a common thing apparently on the mk3's.

Bugracer changed mine a few weeks ago and got rid of a noise aswell, apparently the waterpump was just spinning by itself and not circulating anything

Causing my car to overheat a few times I wasn't happy at all.

October last year he changed my thermostat housing as it had a like hair crack in it :S That cost a bit though but worth to change as its a few parts that get changed rather than one thing!
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

Could be the end of the crossover pipe where it goes into the pump housing. Make sure you change this with the thermostat housing.

      Have fun this weekend.

        Yeh thanx

Really looking forward to it (NOT)

Can you tell me is the waterpump on the (front of the motor) ie near the power steering pump
I thought it was more toward the middle of the front of the engine
        Does that make sense?

I think the waterpipe would be more likely as I cant hear any "broken" noises from near where I think the waterpump is
