MSD ignition without leads

Hey Guys

To the people that have MSD's setup in the VR's can you guys run MSD's without the leads? by that can you run any leads at all? Will it work the same?

standard vr6 leads wont work as they are male and the msd leads are female connectors
im fairly sure they are standard connectors just get female ones
