  • widening steelies

Hey guys, after deliberatiing on what wheels to roll on ive kinda decided on steelies after checking out the mk3 pic whore-ing thread (BIG WIN!) and looking into my wallet. Was wondering tho how you go about widening them? Is it worth it?
    eg.

I know James you followed this car and if you know anything?

    any help appreciated,
    Cheers

Hmmmmm I wdien some steelies as my Dad's mate was building speed way wheels etc.

Now he has been bailed up by his wife so things ahve hit the fan (Just ask Pete how long his wheels are taking)

If you supply centers you woul be looking at around $200 a rim from some of the places like Ajax or Eastern wheels works.

Remember to check your offsest and have them spot on.

BTW what Mk3 do you have now?

hmm looking a bit more complicated than i first thought. I got my hands on a stock standard (with the exception of an original eurovox 10 stack CD stacker ) 96 GL about a month ago. Whats a good width to go for?

I have a genuine opportunity to get some made now, thinking of getting 15" off current corolla and possibly making them into 16" through a staggered lip (if thats possible)
Thinking of 8"s at the back and 7.5" at front but wanted to ask, Is this practically possible without going into modifications? I can live with rolling the guards but does anyone know of anything else to look out for?

What fits best? How long is a piece of string?.... How aggressive do you want to go? flush with 0deg camber, poke with -4deg camber, tuck... Why widen steelies if you only want 7.5"? do 8's at least all round and I like the idea of the stepped 15->16" lips

They were 15x8 +10 +25, woulda been perfect for this!
