  • The pain begins

so yesterday I was driving home from a my girl friends house, casually going round a corner 800m from my house and started accelerating out of the corner and got absolutely nothing. no rev's no noise to hint that something had broken of just rolling along on nothing, chucked my hazard lights on while trying to kick her back over but it wouldn't kick over just sat there trying to start.
Called the RAA and after the nice 2 hour wait they came out and put it down to my ignition module/coil not having any power output. So now i need to get that replaced and am not sure where to get one from.

I took some pictures of it as im not 100% sure the guy was right and have no idea what exactly the part is called if anyone can help that would be great!

Check out Imparts on Main North Road. They'll have one on the shelf for sure. Common failure, had one go on my Ibiza.

Lucky. Last time that happened to me two valve seats went base-jumping.

              +1

had the same item go (like flicking a switch) on the Mk3.5 when i had it. Genuine VW was ~$350. Imparts was ~$125 IIRC (this was 2007)

I got a no name brand from ABC Auto Parts in the US. It took about 3 days and cost me $19.00 plus $30.00 US for shipping. Plus I got a voucher for 10 percent off my next purchase from them.

This part went in my old Mk3 when I slid off the road in the wet once. I can't recall how much it was to replace, I don't think it was as good as the prices mentioned here though because I took it to the place closest to the RACQ tow yard.
