A lack of obvious screws or anything leaves me puzzled!
They'd be those pop-out staple-type thingies (technical terminology), wouldn't they? Something like ... find each area where the door trims are tightest against the frame and gently (but firmly) insert some lever to pull them back. (I put a complete Recaro set into a Mk II Capri V6 many moons ago ... and that's how they worked.)
Anyway ... all care, no responsibility ... suggestion only, Matty.
If i remember correctly, unscrew the door lock plastics. Then take the power window plastic part, unplug the loom and there should be 2 philips head screws to take off. Also take the plastic that covers the power mirror wires (triangular shape thingy).
Just give the door handle a good tug and it should come loose. Or you could be pedantic and with a screwdriver starting at the bottom right corner and levering the door trims off that way.
u need to unclip the top part of the grab handle on the door. under it are a couple of screwed that hold the door panel on. then around the outer edge of the door there are clips. start from the bottom with a big flat bladed object and slowly pop them out.. ull need to unclip the inside door pull handle thingy as well. once its all disconnected u just pull upwards and outwards and it should come out withuot too much fuss.
Whatever u do. just be slow and methodical about it as its easy to damage bits. thats just off the top of my head. Im sure there will be pics and a walkthru on how to do it on vwvortex somewhere tho.
Was planning to take off the trims to remove the old crossovers that the car audio joint left in after installing my new system. Turns out the crossovers are buried in the dash.
The dash looks a total pain to remove. Might have to leave em there
the crossovers are built into the tweeters. so if they removed the old ones. then thyere gone.
speaker wire goes into the tweeter and then out down to the door speakers in the standard setup.
There was a pair of pioneer TS-C1653 splits in the car. The woofers got yanked out when my new stuff went in but the rest is still in the car. Got the tweeters out today but the xovers are still lurking... somewhere.
