it might be worth sending a photo of that pump to ecs and just ask mate, you never know what they might say. I know what its like to lose access to tools and garage and other transport. First thing I'm gonna start saving for is some tools of my own.
Felt like doing a small update... So the other day I got a box of goodies from possibly the most awesome person ever, Alex (KI11Z or something...). Seriously so incredibly thankfull, I owe you big time.
Included in this box was an oil pickup Not another month or 2 wait for me...
Spent the afternoon trying to get the end of the oil pump drive shaft that sheared off out of the engine to put the poor thing back togethor. No such luck though. After 5 hours of trying imaginative and wishfull ideas, The thing was still stuck in there. Took another look at the bentley and it looks as though you can get at it from outside of the engine.. Have to take off the exhaust manifolds and downpipe to get at it though... started on that, but its hard in the dark on the street, so going to go back to it tomorow.
Last weekend I properly got rid of the rest of the alarm system that had been cuasing problems and re soldered up about 2 million wires after unsplicing the alarm ones. Tacho still seems to be doing wierd things though, even though I hvent driven it :/
Got a new phone too (some drunk retard thought it would be funny to through the old one in a fire...), nothing fancy, but fiured id try the camera out.
its just missing the one on that side took it out when detailing it, the wire fell and i couldn be bothered to find it at the time, forgot abut it til now! haha. But thanks, theres also something else waiting to go on in the near future, only hint for now though is the word "flush"
I has news I must admit I came incredibly close to giving up and having the thing towed to a real mechanic after spending all of sunday trying to get the end of the oil pump drive shaft out with no luck, but then in bed I realised i was completely retarded, and that the reason I could not get the exhaut mani off was because id forgotten the bolts on the bottom... (we all have those days when the mind is just not working right) So tonight after work I headed down to the road, set up a little light, jacked it up, pulled it apart and got it out got it all back togethor, new oil, some water, jumper cables and got it to start again
Its got a realllly bad exhaust leak now though and running rough as all hell, wont idle ect. Pretty sure it must be to do with the leak and the O2 sensor later down the exhaust. Will look into that another day. For now im happy its back in the garage and off the street.
Jut read through this thread and I have to give MAD respect for all the work you done and keeping at it! Keep the good work up, OHH and your ride is looking amazing!
Anyway she was going fine or a few days (well thats a lie, didnt get around to fixing the exhaust leak so contiued to drive a car that wouldnt idle aound town which is fun) but ofcourse it didnt last.
Tow truck driver had some fun getting it on there with varus ramps and pieces of wood ect hah
That was the last oil pump drive shaft in aus too, so going to have to get bits from over seas. I'm starting to get over this. Its taken me 3 pumps, 3 pans and 2 oil pump drive shafts to realise that everyone is right... its just stupid driving it that low around here.
Its time to do the obvious...
Shortened pan, pump and new engine mounts here I come.
Dude - I'm looking at your car, thinking - its not that low! Is there alot of potholes around where you live? You seem to be annihilating the underneath of your car! Maybe I'm just lucky?
maybe its lower then it looks, haha, sump is something like 30mm off the ground. Axles are rubbing on the chasis. Hard to go much lower then it is static without notching things ect ifI had my euro lip on it would be like an inch off the ground
But yeah, there are a few pot holes and that, but im carefull. I do not for the life of me know how this one was destroyed. it happened while i was just giving it some down the road, didnt hit anything, oil light just started flashing, so i killed the engine asap, pulled over and brought her home (luckily was just under the 21km the RACQ will tow for free).
This time i had just put on a second hand pick up and my old dinged up sump i had patched up. The pickup seemed to be quite brittle, idk. First ones lasted ages.
