  • Resonator/hotdog to replace the suitcase - VR6

I recently replaced my Magnaflow backbox with a Remus unit, and while the new one is much quieter and has a nicer note, I have lost the high scream. Im thinking to remove the suitcase and put a resonator/hotdog in its place - something freeflowing but still with good damping qualities (the missus HATED the loud old muffler). I have never fitted a resonator before so am ignorant to the quality of different brands/prices. I assume it is like mufflers (generally, you get what you pay for) so I want to be sure I am buying something that will effectively free-up the system, but still keep quiet. Where can I get and how much should I pay for such an item?

      Hey Sukebe,

So why did you replace the magnaflow?

I'm a bit of a newbie, and am interested to hear how much difference it made to the car from stock - like mine is, pretty much!

      I'm looking at options myself.

Replaced it because it was too loud. The Remus is much quieter. The Remus is also 2.25" (stock) rather than 2.5" (as the rest of the system is). Since changing, the car seems to have a tad more torque down low, but has lost the free-revving scream up top. I want that scream back, but want to keep it quiet.

You know its actually not disimilar to a V8 note. Im scared to do anything to my exhaust as it sits (Remus)... dont want to change the sound. They are truly magnificent sounding cars it has to be said.
