yea i saw this one a while back.. almost (word removed) when i typed in vr6 hit qld and one finally popped up... but (and yes no offence meant) it does have quite high km's and the couple of photos make it look like its not in great condition. If it's well looked after I have heard these cars can keep going hard for like 2x the km's its had, but things will be getting old in it. It is cheap but then again it looks like it needs a bit of time/money to get it looking really nice, a new paint job would easily be 5000, maybe could just get the bumper painted and stuff, but maybe theres rust and stuff too. the other thing that put me off was where it was

even though its still in qld it would be faster to fly down to sydney and drive back then to get up there

Just rang the seller up and had good chat.
Sortifbigbj, the cosmetic flaws are because of a respray (before the seller purchased it) and the bumper (which should be a greyish plastic) was painted over, along with some of the trims.
Mechanically the car has been kept well, with a reco Gearbox, new clutch, replaced engine mounts and a decent oil used in the engine.
By the sounds of things it is a decent car and Id reccommend you ring the seller if you like to know anything else.

Ill definantly be watching it.

Did you ask why he was selling it for only $3000?

Getting those plastic trim parts on the outside white, from their original black textured state, wouldn't have been a cheap thing on its own...I am curious to know why it's so cheap?

That was one of my first questions, apparantly its all down to the fact that cosmetically the car doesn't look as nice.
Heater core has been by-passed and A/C requires regassing.
Not as stunningly beautiful as your VR6 (which I must congratulate you for, you've done a top job so far).

Quick question, if a car has a A/C as part of the demisting system and the A/C does not work, can that car legally be roadworthied?

Yeah that's fair, I'd wait to see it before jumping to any conclusions. Tell you what though, for heater/AC/cosmetics, that's a lot off the normal sort of price! Mine was 6,500 and my heater didn't work, he got my AC regassed for me (cos he's a mechanic) and while my paint was good it wasn't perfect!

As for the AC question...I reckon it would be quickly overlooked, especially if the AC just needs a regas...if it doesn't work altogether then IMO i reckon it would just depend on the person doing the test.

Interesting, i did notice things had been colourcoded. If only it wasn't so damn far north, taking a look could be interesting. If you could fix it up cosmetically quite cheaply and the engine is running fine could be quite a good deal. Could even copy Mickey and shave it/get it prepared for a nice coat of some fancy black... all for under what most the other vr6's are being sold for (it would take some time and effort but could be a fun little project...)

DIY makes things much cheaper and you know what's done right and ...what isn't done right? lol..therefore you can't be worried about shops and costs hehe. I'd do my own prep for a respray again, it wasn't hard, just time consuming!

It looks a bit shabby, but some love would definately fix that. It would be a wonderful little project. Mine got a whole new facelift (headlights - MK4 style which this already has, fog lights & new blinkers, new front bar, new plastics, new grille and a bonnet respray is coming up) for less than $500.
I'd adopt it, but i'm not allowed to bring home any more cars

hmm tempting

id honestly love to do that all my self... have something to do. Chances are i'd get impatient, get sick of driving a half done car and rush things, cut corners and just screw the whole thing up

Bet it would feel pretty damn sweet to look at a stunning car and know you did it all yourself though
