  • remove the condender??

    Hey peeps!

    I went crazy yesterday and pulled ma dash out in an attempt to remove all aircon components! someone in a thread a while ago was talking about removing a lump of sumthin behind the dash? the condenser? cant seem t get at much in there?? help! i want this aircon DESTROYED!

    If your going to get rid of your dash can I take your heater matrix
    I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

      there isnt a lot behind the dash that weighs much. if thats the idea.
      condensor is at the front of the car isnt it?
      compressor is in the engine bay.

      Also id not replace a heater matrix with an old one. ull just end up needing to do the whole job over again very soon.
      Better to bite the bullet and pay for a brand new one and not have to do it for another 10+ years.

      in fact
      If i had the dash out id replace it even if it wasnt stuffed yet and the car had no history of it being replaced. its not a fun job at all.

        i thought the condenser was the radiator thingy at the front, i've removed that, though I remember someone talking about getting rid of sumthin else behind that dash?? that wieghed a lot?? maybe im trippin . . .

          the driver? they can be pretty heavy sometimes!

                  Evaporator

                  It's the evaporator that inside the car. The condensor is in front of the radiator. Air conditioning works thanks to latent heat of evaporation, where liquid refrigerant evaporates using the heat of it's surroundings so cooling them (inside the car). It then turns into a gas and is moved to the condensor which cools it and turns it back into a liquid.

                  I know it's bit silly when you think of all of the leaky aircon systems on the road but you're really supposed to have the refrigerant gas removed and disposed of according to the environmental laws.

                    ahhh, maybe it was that evaprator?! . . . are /they big or not or wat? lol, i dnt really know wat to pull at behind there?

                      does anyone know where the guy got those cup holders for the centre console....they are cool and much needed in a mk3.....
