  • Timing Belt Change?

    Hi All

I'm looking at buying a 97 Golf GL which has done 95K's. When do these things need their timing belt changed? And anyone know how much I should expect from a mechanic to do this?

And can someone tell me when the next service is due? is it major or minor?

    Thanks!

Yeh id do it as soon as possible when u buy the car. The haynes says every 90k, which is approximate for most cars.

Might as well do a service during the timing belt, as a guide i paid $225 for a timing belt change (@ 122k after i bought my car) but I work there as well.

That sounds like a good price! Can you please give me the details on where you got it done?
