Does anyone know of anyone who stocks these here in Aus?

Porsche Twists are hot! Don't care if they're replicas either! 17x8 ET35/20 front/back... I'd imagine they would sit fairly flush with the arches in GL models and probably poke a bit on VR suspension. 15's or 16's, I reckon they could be put on with stretched tyres and fender roll and you should get away with it!
99gti, I don't know about RH stockists but if you're looking for Porsche replicas, I can suggest OZwheels at St. Marys. The owner makes his own 3-piece replicas of some popular Porsche wheels in a variety of sizes (I've seen the Twists and Cups in his shop). They cost $600 EACH without any tyres though!

You are so right raytwists are awesome, and will suit any car
I have a question for you mk3 VR6 owners, how much would you pay for a manual straight 3door CL/GL mk3? Has anyone thought about taking the 5door you have now, and swapping the whole car over to the 3door?
Then swapping the 3door stuff that came off it back into the 5door shell...and then selling the 5door? I reckon it would sell close to the price you paid for the 3door. Anyone crunched numbers on this? and lots of your time if you get together and do it...mk3 GTI 16v 3dr

It's been done once in Tasmania, a VR6 swap. Golf Loon did a VR6 swap into a 3-door Seat Ibiza before too.
If your well knowledgeable with making engine swaps, it's a doable affair.

There is a wire bang at the top of the hatch inside going to the highstop.
The slot the wire comes out of looks just like a coinslot.

Latest update for the 16v...I didn't like the 'nose down' ride it had, so I bit the bullet and had (F&R) bushings fitted, rear dropped 20mm and two new engine mounts (16v was twisting a bit) car has 108kms in total, so time to get it done...
I found out too that the GTI's engine mounts are from the GLI/GL and they are just are not up to the job - so one way to go is to fit the uprated mounts from the VR6 - much better!this car is so sweet to drive now
B4
Always get an alignment done - asap after...
Hanging with some mates after...sorry, car is dirty here (20mm drop at rear)

Hi, thanks
Good tough rev-happy engine, loves a thrashing! the gearing from the 02A box is a bit long though.... Fitted some new 10mm silicon leads I got from the uk last year too - the old oem ones look like twigsNever had an issue with the EFI on the mk3 GTI either and this is my third one.

Good stuff! I know the GL mounts had holes in them (reminded me of cheese); are the VR6 mounts the same? If they still do, do you know what makes them "uprated" when compared with the GL?

Surely with the VR6 engine being heavier, the mounts would just be of heavier duty design...i think they do have holes in them too, Ray; my guess is they'd just be tougher.
Nice car man, I've never really seen it before! I thought it was a VR6 too hehehe..very niceMrk Detailing, premium automotive detailing. Paint correction/protection specialist. PM me

Cheers, yep cheese holesI've heard of some that fill the holes and re-fit them
The VR6 mounts are a bit more beefed up over the GLI/GL ones, sorry I didn't look at them close enough to see if they had cheeseholes in them, my guess is they are just made from better harder rubber - I've only done the two rear ones and kept the original front one. There's a few mk3 owners here who have had the GLI/GL mounts crapping out and leaking...
I'm trying to get the balance right and not keen at this stage on too much vibration into the cabin, hence the reason for leaving the original front one intact - see how things go etcLast edited by bsting; 13-03-2009, 04:14 AM.mk3 GTI 16v 3dr
