  • Well... I picked up my VR this afternoon after being without her on and off for about a month now. After a long time of neglect and hardship - she is now running fabulously and I have all 6 cylinders all the time!

    Have had the following done:

    - New plugs
    - New leads
    - 2nd/h coil pack
    - Bigarse oil leak fixed
    - Engine bay cleaned up and everything painted black
    - sump welded up (kiddies - do not slam your car if you will be driving it every day over bumpy roads)
    - middle muffler cut out - has a nice grumble now!
    - roof black vinyl wrapped (the only cosmetic thing done at the moment...)

    Still to be done:

    - buckled rim fixed and refitted to car
    - new front grill painted and fitted
    - new front bar painted and fitted
    - new fog lights fitted and wired in
    - window tint (the list is actually endless but this is kinda top priority at the moment...)

It's a bit cold at present - but I will take some pictures and post in the near future
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...

    • Sounds like a massive chunk off the to-do list! Nice one!

Wish I had funds to do that sort of thing at the moment. Hahaha

      • Funds - what funds...? I'm pimping Matt out doing electrical work for some of the bill

But at least it's running properly now - this arvo was the first time I didn't swear at it in a looooooong time.

          • I'm going to have to come and look at it again. I'm curious to hear what it sounds like with the centre muffler deleted, was talking to dad about doing it to his only today. Get that grill in!

            • Doooooooo ittttttttt! Delete that muffler! DELETE DELETE DELETE. IMO it doesn't drone - but this is in comparison to my Polo *sniff sniff*...
I'll get the grill in after I have the front bar and everything in order... I promise... And the foglights ... And all the rest of the plastics that have vanished...

Hahaha - Matt was teasing me calling the car a confused German-Japspec monster. I have to get some more peeectures when it's a bit warmer out.

                    • Did you stick a straight through pipe in or a hotdog? Would be great to get the two silver VRs together sometime for some pics!

                      • There already was a hot dog in it? (i was confused too - thought someone had put it there but it had VW stamped all over it). Just had the suitcase muffler cut out and a piece of pipe welded in. I am pleasantly surprised - get some pretty awesome poppage too.

                        • My little VR made me very proud...

I'll let the pictures tell the story...

This is standard running a Pod & the middle muffler has been deleted... Is this to be expected out all VRs? Or has someone had a bit of a tinker with it before it came to me?

                              • I'll have to check with young ed then... by the way he is chasing a tow pack for his mk3.
Is that 110kw at the fly? shouldn't that have like 85-90 at the wheels then?
I'm super stoked with that result!
