  • Suggestions for lighting please!

    Hey all!

I understand there was a thread on headlights just the other week, but I'm interested in your opinions on the following...

I'm assuming I will get some smoked fogs and indicators over the crystal variety, also smoked side markers, thereby following the trend with the tails. But the following headlights are; FK's, angel eyes with projectors (hella celis) , and finally mk4 looks...

    for the following car

Hey nice looking car...its a very hard to get the exact combination right when modifying the front end. It took me months to decide what I wanted for mine.....There are so many different directions you can go in but I always say the cleaner the better.
For you car I would go the MkIV headlights with white indicators with either the wide fogs or the kamei ducts like on mine. I just think the smoked fogs are too much on a white car (but just my opinion).
I'd also paint the grill white too..You might think it will be too much white but it'll look clean as. Eyelids look good on the MkIV lights too....
in the end your car though. Good luck with it!

I'm running with the contrasting white and black theme...
Hence why i'm thinking smoked indicators, etc..

+1 for the FK's, I think the others have too much chrome for a headlight and it makes them look cheap (even if they arent).

Any of those three will look sweet, and headlights will transform your front end, you may find even more people trying to race you if you fit angel eyes. As soon as mine went on, those illuminated rings seemed like a xmas tree on a drag strip to four cylinder foes.

flog 4 lights.. (middle ones) cant go wrong with standard looking lights, as of white black scheme.. if i had your car the only things that are black are long lines accross your car.. that break the white up nicley i wouldnt go smoked driving lights

Hey Sean, I'm going for the exact look you're going for too!
I'm looking into getting smoked turns and filler plates for the front (contemplating fogs but they are damn expensive) too. If you're happy with the light output of your current headlights, you could try getting the "projector" look by painting the surrounds. My opinion is totally biased as I did it myself for my dual chambers, and it came out excellent - the exact look that I was going for:

In my opinion, it maintains the 'stock' look. But if you're looking for a more updated look, doing a similar mod for Mk4 look-alike headlights would look sick too and would give you that updated look:

Not the same but should give you a rough idea!
                    Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
                    Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

I like either the first one i.e. twin headlights with the blackened surround or mk4 look alikes blakened as well.

You definately need smoked fogs to go with it, they look better on a white car than a coloured one i reckon. Where u planning to get this stuff from? It isnt cheap at all!

                          Hey Sean,

The black-backed Hella Cellis would look absolutely schmick with the contrasting black/white theme. They're a bit on the exxy side, but probably the best trade off between euro minimalism and street tough you can get anywhere for a Mk3 (IMO of course)...

If you dont have $700 to throw around, you could try something similar to mine. Maybe a bit overstated, but as I'm going down the 'contrast' path, I reckon they fit the bill pretty well...

Just a thought in passing. Hella make some classy lighting for VW's...

Out of your 3 options, definitely No.1 for the contrasting look...

                          Cheers!

I asked him about those ones they were $150 for both I think so great buy!!!

I bought some clear side indicators for my car and not happy going to go smoked aswell, as it matches with the car.
