  • Headgasket Change

    Hey guys,

Blown the headgasket in the MK3 by the looks of it so going to pulling the head off.

Few questions, will a headgasket kit, headbolts, stem seals etc from the US 2.0L ABA motor work alright?

With the head off, I'll get it skimmed and cleaned up, anything else worth doing at the same time?

Dunno if the the ABA kit is the same.

If you wanna flick me a pm or email with the prices you will pay from the US, I`ll see if I can better them with the local solution

You also need to get the head serviced. A skim, pressure test and new valve stem seals should be a minimum.

Get the head taken off Lorenz. Only takes a couple of hours. At least then you can check that the gasket has gone, like we think it has.

The car is off the road any way so you're not losing anything.

Get a cambelt while you are at it too. Unless the one on it is really young.

Cheers Loon, will have a sus when its off and see what the damage is. Either way if the heads coming off Im going to replace the gaskets. New stem seals with a skim are a deffinate too.
Trying to work out what its all going to cost me, hence working out if its going to be cheaper to get them from the US or locally.
